  • Dr. Stephen W. Linton was appointed Associate Director of the Center for Korean Studies at the Center for East Asian Studies, Columbia University.
  • Dr. Linton served as an advisor to many individuals and organizations, including former President Jimmy Carter, to develop relationships with counterparts in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

  • In the summer of 1979, Stephen W. Linton first visited the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as an observer of the 35th World Table Tennis Championship held in Pyongyang.
  • In the fall of 1979, Stephen W. Linton began his doctoral program at Columbia University in New York City, focusing on Korean history and religion.

  • Hugh M. Linton was born in Gunsan, Korea, the third son of Reverend and Mrs. William Linton.
  • Reverend Hugh Linton and his wife, Lois Flowers Linton, served as missionaries to Korea from 1953 until he died in 1984.
  • After his death she continued to serve until her retirement in 1994.
  • His second son, Stephen W. Linton, later founded the Eugene Bell Foundation.

  • Reverend William Linton, served as a Southern Presbyterian missionary from 1912 until he died in 1960. His wife, Charlotte Witherspoon Linton returned to Korea after his death and continued to serve until her retirement.
1895
1895 연혁
  • Reverend Eugene Bell and his wife, Lottie Witherspoon Bell, arrived in Korea. They served as Southern Presbyterian missionaries in South Jeolla Province.
  • She died in Mokpo in 1901, and he in Kwangju in 1925.
