  • Eugene Bell was registered as a not-for-profit foundation in the Republic of Korea (South Korea).
  • The Foundation started the ‘Partner Package Program’ to link donors with North Korean medical facilities, making possible regular shipments of essential diagnostic equipment, medications, and patient support.
  • The Chairman received the Fourth Manhae Peace Prize on behalf of the Eugene Bell Foundation.
  • The Eugene Bell Foundation won the 'Sixth Unsang Award.'

  • The Eugene Bell Foundation provided a laparoscopic surgical equipment and training program for Pyongyang Medical University.
  • The Foundation invited three doctors from the Pyongyang Red Cross Hospital to visit the United States to study emergency medical care at John Hopkins University.

  • The Eugene Bell Foundation began sending regular shipments of medical equipment and supplies to thirteen tuberculosis hospitals and sixty-three TB treatment centers in the DPRK. Assistance included mobile X-ray vehicles, tuberculosis medications, microscopes, and patient nutrition support.

  • The Eugene Bell Foundation provided an ambulance to the Pyongyang Red Cross Hospital.
  • The Foundation shipped X-ray machines and tuberculosis medications to hospitals in the DPRK.
  • The DPRK Ministry of Public Health requested the Chairman for tuberculosis-related assistance.

  • The Eugene Bell Foundation launched a campaign to send food assistance to people in the DPRK affected by a food emergency caused by flooding.
1995

  • Democratic People’s Republic of Korea diplomatic representatives issued an appeal to Dr. Stephen W. Linton to send food assistance to people suffering from severe summer floods. Dr. Linton established the Eugene Bell Foundation in response to this request.
  • The Foundation was originally called ‘The Eugene Bell Centennial Foundation’ to mark the 100th anniversary of the arrival to Korea by Reverend Eugene Bell and his wife, Lottie Witherspoon Bell.
  • Dr. Stephen Linton assisted the Billy Graham Association to design and send a mobile dental vehicle to the Pyongyang Red Cross Hospital.
1991

  • From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Stephen W. Linton served as a special adviser to the Rev. Billy Graham.
  • Dr. Linton planned Billy Graham’s visits to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and interpreted for him in his meetings with DPRK President Kim Il Sung.
